Do you have a hard time finding the perfect pair of shorts? I hope I am not the only one. Either I finally find a size that fits just right and the style has a lot lacking or I find a pair that is beyond cute and they do not fit me right. I can’t be the only one with this problem!
Adding lace to any piece of denim is super fabulous! Don’t you love how the dainty design of lace compliments the rustic feel of denim? If you walk into any clothing store right now, you are sure to see this style floating around.
The problem, it’s going to cost you way more then you need to spend on such a simple design.
The solution, follow along in this video tutorial on how to DIY shorts. The best thing about doing DIY fashion projects is, in the end, you have a one of a kind piece. How much would you have to pay a designer for a one of kind piece? Way more than I can afford, that’s for sure!
If you are in need of some new shorts for this summer there is no need to go to the store. All you need to do is find an old pair of jeans and make yourself a brand new pair of DIY shorts. They will look more fabulous then it sounds!
Easy, easy, easy! I am going to show you how to add lace onto denim to dress it up a bit and add new life to your current wardrobe.
What You Will Need
• An old pair of denim pants
• A pretty piece of lace – about ½ yard total
• Scissors
• Thread to match the lace
How to add lace to your DIY shorts
My favorite part about this project is that the pants you are using could be an old pair that has never fit quite right. The only part of the pants that needs to look cute is the part above the knee. That’s all we are going to be working with.
Something that is also awesome, is you can find a piece of lace just about anywhere. Try looking through your local thrift store for an old lace tablecloth or an old laced shirt perhaps. You don’t need a lot of fabric, just about ½ yard of lace that you love.

May 6, 2015 at 3:44 pmWhat an adorable idea! Back in the 60’s we used to make purses out of our old jeans, and embroidery. Your idea is so much faster! I love the picture with the both of you in your matching shorts! Thanks for sharing!
