This is big news guys! I have heard the rumors of the amazing prices, the fantastic selection, and delicious tastes. But it wasn’t until this morning that I was able to experience this wonderfulness called, ALDI!
It was a few weeks ago that I just about ran my car off the road (don’t worry, no one was harmed due to my excitement!) when I heard an advertisement come on the radio announcing that ALDI was coming to southern California!
Wa – what!?
You guys have been asking me if I had ever been to ALDI, which would end in my jealous tears…
I wanted to go so bad because you guys keep telling me how amazing this store is! But there was no possible way for me to experience this fantastic store where I live. Until now!
You are SO right! This store is ah-mazing!
When you hear the words fresh, high quality, healthy and organic, what do you imagine happening to your grocery bill? Up, up, up, is what I think.
But when you shop at ALDI you will find all of those qualities in their products AND you will only end up paying up to 50% less on your grocery bill!
Cut your grocery bill in half! Do you want to find out if you have an ALDI near you? You can check out the ALDI website here and you can also download their FREE app where you can locate a store no matter where you live. You can also browse their weekly specials, which are going to save you even more money!
I decided to put the store to the test! I have to say, I was a little skeptical about the low prices. I wasn’t convinced I would find “really great deals.” Guess what I found!
Now you guys know that I do monthly meal planning. If you are new here, you can read more about that here. So I waited until it came time to make a giant monthly grocery shopping trip, then headed out to ALDI.
I was able to find most items on my shopping list all in one store! That alone is a huge time saver. I usually will go to a minimum of three different stores just to make sure I am getting the lowest price. Now there is now need since all the prices are fantastic!
There was exactly what I needed when it came to fresh meats, fresh produce, natural snacks, dairy, and many options for breads.
All three little ones ended up coming with me to do my monthly grocery shopping trip. Which usually would cause me extreme stress! Since I wasn’t using coupons (but still getting amazing deals) and ALDI makes shopping so easy, it really was no problem to have the kiddos tagging along.
They got lollipops as a reward while I paid for everything!
I ended up buying 77 items and my grand total rang up at a low $102.48. That averages each item out at only $1.33 each! These are real numbers! Can you believe how cheap that is?
Keep in mind that I bought a few “higher” priced items, like chicken and toilet paper, if you took those out of the average, the per item average price would be even closer to $1!
Now, normally I budget $300 for my monthly groceries. I will probably need to go out and spend another $60-$80 to finish buying the items I couldn’t find. Taking that into consideration, I am saving over $100 each month, over $1,200 a year, just by shopping at ALDI! No coupons, apps, or rebates needed! Super easy!
How does an extra $1,200 sound to you? Those numbers are based off of an already very frugal budget. If you are on your way to minimizing your expenses, I am sure that you could save even closer to $300 a month! Bringing your annual savings in around $3,600! Just by changing what store you shop at!
There were a couple things I learned as a first timer to ALDI that I thought I would pass on to you, to help your next visit be even more of a success!
Things I learned about ALDI
- You have to use a quarter to “rent” a shopping cart. This is not a big deal at all since this is one of the ways the store keeps their prices down so low! You get your quarter back after you return your cart.
- You probably want to bring your own bags. ALDI charges per paper bag you need, but you can also purchase reusable bags if you forgot yours. Again, another way they keep prices so dang low!
- About 90 percent of the items you will see at ALDI are all under their own ALDI exclusive brands and they actually taste amazing! Unlike most off-brand groceries, these ALDI-exclusive brands taste just as good if not better then the brand names!
- Even the meat is high quality! You won’t believe that the SimplyNature® line of USDA meats are certified organic and Non-GMO because of the low prices. Usually antibiotic free, hormone free, gluten free, or organic meat means high prices. Nope. Not at ALDI! Great quality and super low prices!
If you can’t tell already, I am 100% ecstatic about my first trip to ALDI! You can bet that I am going to be talking all my local friends ears off on why they need to change where they grocery shop.
So, sorry in advance friends if I get annoying! When I get excited about saving money I can’t help but want to share and pass the savings on to anyone and everyone!
What is your favorite item from ALDI?
I am super excited to start trying some of their ALDI-exclusive brands! Make sure you are subscribed to my YouTube channel and follow me on Instagram so you can find out how my family likes all these new products!
Talk to you soon! Xoxo

February 17, 2017 at 12:56 pmI used to shop at Aldi when we lived in Maryland. Since we moved to WA state (no Aldi) I have had to find other ways to shop frugally. Whuch usually means shopping at least 2 different stores. I do have a grocery bargain market in my area and I can usually find excellent prices on organic foods.
