3 Quick Dollar Store Halloween Costume Ideas for Moms

Costume ideas for mom are always a last minute thought! We forget about ourselves all of the time and Halloween is no exception. For the last 6 years I didn’t think about what I was wearing for Halloween until I was putting the finishing touches on my kids outfits as we were about to walk out the door!

I know I am not the only one in this situation. Which is why I wanted to share three super quick costume ideas for moms and the bonus is if you don’t already have the supplies, you can gather them with a five minute stop at the dollar store!

Ice Cream Cone

Supplies:

Solid color shirt
Colored popsicle sticks
Safety pins
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Brown shipping paper
Headband

How to:

Use the got glue to attach the safety pins to the popsicle sticks. Let the glue dry and then randomly attach the popsicle sticks to the shirt.

On the brown shipping paper, cut a 24-inch diameter circle. Cut one 12-inch line from the edge of the circle to the center. Wrap paper into the shape of a cone, secure with hot glue. Attach the cone to headband with hot glue.

Pair with your favorite pair of jeans and you are ready to head out the door!

Pineapple

Supplies:

Yellow shirt
Green poster board / construction paper
Empty toilet paper roll
Headband
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Leaf template (download here)

How to:

Follow the instructions to create this super cute pineapple hat from Studio DIY. Once again, pair your yellow shirt and new hat with a pair of jeans and you are now ready to chase your kids down the street for candy!

Piñata

This is my number one pick out of all of these costume ideas for moms!

Supplies:

Solid colored shirt
Multi-colored tissue paper
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Cone party hats

How to:

Cut tissue paper into 2-inch wide strips. Along each strip, cut just 1-inch up the paper every inch. Starting at the bottom of the shirt, attach the tasseled tissue paper to the shirt with hot glue wrapping it around the shirt.

Repeat the same process to cover the birthday party hats. Top with long strands of tissue paper.

Throw on some colored leggings or your classic jeans will work perfectly as well!
