Tips for Spray Painting
1. Get it clean
The method you use to clean your item will depend on what your thrift store find is made out of. Your main objective should be to get it as clean as possible. Bring out your scrub brush or maybe just a damp cloth and get to work.
2.Thin and even layers
When using spray paint you want to use thin and even layers. If you go too heavy on the paint all at one time, the chances of the paint dripping are very high. To avoid that, be patient and start with a thin light layer, let that dry, and then come back through with an additional layer of paint. Continue this process until you see the desired coverage you are looking for.
3. Start painting with your item sitting the right way up
When starting to paint your thrift store find you will want to have the item sitting the way that it will be displayed. This will help hide any drips or imperfections that might turn up. Turn the item once the first layer has dried and paint any hidden areas.
4.Angle the paint in all directions
If your item has a lot of detail you will want to try and spray the paint from several different angles. This will help get the paint into all the tiny nooks and completely cover your thrift store find.
