Our family has made a major commitment this month! It is time for us to buckle down. We have set goals in the past, but nothing ever as big as the goal we are making today!
Goal: Buy a house in two years!
October 5th, 2015. Mark this day as the first day in our journey to buying our very first home! Does that get you excited as much as it get’s us excited?
You can do it too! Have you been wanting to buy your first home but haven’t felt like you could do it! I know you can! Let’s do it together!
What does it mean exactly to “plan to buy a house?” Most likely, the biggest part of this journey is going to be the process of saving to buy a house. Which sounds a lot more simple then it really is.
There are a lot of things to consider and what to do before buying a house. We want to make sure that we are financially ready to make the biggest investment we will probably ever make in our entire life.
It’s a Big Deal!
Over the next two years I will be sharing with you everything we learn about getting ready to buy our first home and what we learn as we start saving to buy a house. Once a month I will be sharing our monthly and short-term goals and our progress on reaching our goal of buying a house in two years.
Because we will need to live extremely frugal, it’s going to be an extra challenge for us to find ways to live frugal (very frugal) and fabulous! Providing me with more opportunities to share with YOU tips we learn on saving money and making every last penny stretch a little further. All while still living pretty for just pennies.
It is extremely important for everyone to be conscious of where you are spending your money. So even if you have already bought your first home, the information in this series will still be very valuable!
The Plan
In a very simplified overview, here the two major steps of our plan on what to do before buying a house.
1. Get rid of all of our debt
2. Save money for a down-payment
We figure that by accomplishing these two goals within the next two years, we will then be in a position where we will be financially comfortable to make the commitment.
So here we go, our first huge financial journey in our marriage! Two years is a long time but if we break it down by getting rid of our debt and start saving to buy a house, I am confident we will be ready in two years!
