Does your family love waffles for breakfast? I think my kids would eat them every morning if I would let them. It has kind of become a tradition in our home that once a week or so when dad is home in the mornings that he will make the family waffles for breakfast.
In the past few weeks, the hubby has actually stepped up his game quite a bit! It all started when one Saturday morning we all woke up to find that our waffle mix had been depleted. It was all gone!
Once the moment of panic was gone, my hubby decided he was going to make waffles from scratch. I had done it before, my parents love to make waffles from scratch, and so I was excited to see what he could do! He did an amazing job!
I am happy to report that we no longer buy waffle mix and every time that dad makes “his” breakfast for us he creates waffles from scratch!
What’s the big deal?
It is hard for me to explain that taste that seems to come in any prepackaged or premixed product. But you know what I am talking about right? It’s almost like a small hint of chemical or artificial flavor. That’s not something you dream about for breakfast.
When you make these waffles from scratch all those unwelcomed flavors are gone! Replaced with a light, fluffy, and fresh tasting breakfast treat! This recipe is going to satisfy your family with an airy on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside waffle.
How to Make Waffles from Scratch
First thing is first, you need to get your waffle iron heated up. Now you are ready to start whipping your egg whites using an electric mixer. Keep going until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, milk, oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla until smooth.
Gently fold in the egg whites.
Pour an amount that fits into your waffle iron and get ready to fill your home with the perfect breakfast aroma! Cook until golden brown.
What do you think?
