Who want’s to eat a banana split for breakfast?! I am always in the mood for a nice sweet breakfast but this one actually is going to be good for you! No need for any guilt here. Actually, you can feel good about yourself for making such a smart choice in eating this sweet bowl for breakfast this morning!
With bananas (of coarse), strawberries, blackberries, granola, and a low sugar yogurt, this breakfast is going to leave you and your family feeling full and energized for your day. My kids actually love having this for breakfast! I let them pick their own toppings and “cook” their own. Super easy to put together and fun for the kids! They love to help make their own food.
It can become easy to get stuck in the same breakfast rut, especially when you have a busy week! For our family our go-to breakfasts are cereal or eggs and toast. Not fun at all! So whenever I have the ingredients for this breakfast banana split the whole family gets excited and I am happy because I know I am giving my family a super healthy and nutrition packed breakfast.
Super quick and healthy are my two favorite words when it comes to feeding my family! This recipe has both! Here is the speedy breakdown on how you can get this ready for your families’ next breakfast!
P.S. We eat this for lunch sometimes too! Perfect for a nice and warm spring or summer picnic or just something cooler to eat on a hot day!
How to make your own
Start with a nice long bowl for building your banana split. Split that banana right down the middle lengthwise.
Top with a generous amount of yogurt. I love to use Light and Fit Yogurt. (No, I’m not being paid to say this. Just love it!) It has a fraction of the amount of sugar that most yogurts have but still has all the protein and fiber! You can also buy it as Greek yogurt. But that one is about double the price.
You can now start topping away with any other fresh fruit you found on sale this week at the store. Since fresh produce can be pricey sometimes, it’s nice that this recipe can be altered so easily and still taste wonderful!
Lastly, sprinkle with your favorite granola. Do a little or a lot. Whatever you think sounds good this morning! I personally go a little heavy on the granola because I love the crunchy texture it adds to the bowl.
Enjoy!
